International airlines in Angola are preparing to move to the new António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN), built by the China National Aero-technology International Engineering Corporation (CAIEC). AIAAN, located in the province of Icolo and Bengo, began construction in 2013, is more than 40 kilometers north of Luanda, and was inaugurated in 2023, having cost the state coffers around 2.5 billion euros.

The general manager of the AIAAN Temporary Operator, António Pombal, said that they have recently been collecting intentions from international companies to transfer to the new airport and that each of them will soon be able to announce their transfer date to AIAAN.

The new infrastructure, inaugurated in 2023, is already creating social impacts, according to the official, with the generation of around 400 new jobs, a figure that should rise to around 600 workers by September this year.
