The governments of Mozambique and China are working to improve trade and promote investment between the two nations. To this end, a meeting was held on May 14 in Maputo between Mozambique's Secretary of State for Trade, António do Rosário Grispos, and Vice-Minister of the General Administration of Customs of China, Wang Lingjun.
According to a statement, the meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation ties, with a focus on trade facilitation and sharing good customs practices, as well as making the business environment more attractive by increasing exports.
On the occasion, it was revealed that the Mozambican Ministry of Economy is promoting training for the public and private sectors on the mechanisms for registering companies and the procedures for exporting products to the Chinese market. In September last year, Mozambique and China signed an agreement allowing the export of new Mozambican agricultural products: macadamia nuts, pigeon peas and cashew nuts, which can be exported to China without the application of tariffs, reinforcing the opportunities for Mozambican agricultural producers.
