The Lula Institute visited China to learn firsthand how the country managed to eradicate poverty. The institute's president, Ivone Silva, and director, Ana Flávia Marques, visited Henan province. The mission included meetings with local authorities and think tanks, as well as visits to villages that have become benchmarks for economic and social development.

What most caught the attention of the Brazilian delegation was the strong role played by the government in eradicating poverty. According to Ana Flávia Marques, China's success is due to the coordination of social policies, economic growth, and programs that directly target the poorest segments of the population.

For the president and director of the Lula Institute, the Chinese experience reinforces that structured public policies can generate employment, income, and autonomy when integrated with infrastructure and training. “For us, it is an example of how to think about public policies that address the particularities of each region,” concluded Ana Flávia Marques.
