The foundation stone for the Brazil-China Laboratory for Mechanization and Artificial Intelligence in Family Farming was recently laid at the China Agricultural University (CAU) in Beijing.

The laboratory will develop artificial intelligence technologies and small machinery specific to the needs of family farming in the Brazilian semi-arid region, with a focus on environmental monitoring and data analysis. The space will be installed at the National Institute of the Semi-Arid (Insa), a research unit linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MCTI), in Campina Grande (PB).

The joint effort is yet another opportunity for the countries to complement each other with their individual strengths. The partnership is the result of a memorandum of understanding signed between the MCTI and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China and will be under the responsibility of Insa.
