“We brought a lot of growth and strongly promoted the city as an anchor to strengthen China's relations with Brazil. We have prospects for collaboration in various sectors,” summarizes Mayor Margarida Salomão about the recent trip.

Mutual collaboration in the academic, scientific, technological, commercial, cultural, and sports areas—with soccer—is the big bet on the fruits of the foray into Yueyang, which marked the beginning of “sister city” relations.

The delegations from Juiz de Fora and Yueyang signed a document of intent for exchange and mutual development. “This means that we have a mutual commitment to develop joint projects,” explains Margarida. The expectation now is to welcome the delegation from Yueyang in May 2026, possibly during the celebrations of Juiz de Fora's anniversary.
