The Norte Conectado program, run by the Brazilian Ministry of Communications, was one of the highlights of the Exchange Conference on Integrated Development of the Global Industrial Internet, held in Shenyang, China. The initiative was presented by the Secretary of Telecommunications, Hermano Tercius, who highlighted Brazil as a benchmark in public policies for digital inclusion and connectivity.
Tercius was part of the panel “Smart Industry for Global Connectivity” and presented the program. “In Brazil, the Norte Conectado program is installing 12,000 km of sub-river fiber optic cables in the heart of the Amazon. We are creating the infrastructure for a bioeconomy 4.0, transforming the wealth of biodiversity into high value-added products in a sustainable way, generating jobs and income,” said Hermano Tercius.
“Digital transformation must serve a greater purpose: human development and the reduction of inequalities. Instead of building walls, Brazil believes in building digital and industrial bridges, based on multilateralism and fair trade,” he said.
