Ansumane Cassamá, Inspector General of Guinea-Bissau's Ministry of Media, recently visited China's Yunnan Province as part of the Global South Media and Think Tank Forum 2025.
According to him, the experience in the province offers an inspiring model for countries in the Global South. Citing the example of selling pomegranates through live broadcasts, Cassamá pointed out that this case represents a microcosm of a broader transformation that integrates technology, innovation, and the promotion of local products.
He stressed that this process illustrates how Yunnan's modernization transforms traditional agricultural products into significant sources of income. In this sense, he added that identifying and investing in endogenous resources, such as cashews, fishing, or minerals, can boost the national economy, provided they are supported by technology and access to markets.
