Rio de Janeiro government buys new security technology in China

The governor of the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Cláudio Castro, with the "goal of fostering exchanges with Chinese institutions", took part in a meeting on April 17 with the deputy mayor of Beijing, Jin Wei. Also in China, Castro visited the companies Hikvision and Dahua, world leaders in solutions and services based on video and image analysis, with which he signed commercial agreements.


The aim, according to sources, is to expand the Security Forces monitoring and intelligence system in 92 municipalities in Rio de Janeiro. Cláudio Castro explained that the companies will start planning with detailed information on the most suitable models for the state's reality and thus can contribute to making our cities safer and more efficient.


The government has purchased 21,571 portable body cameras from Hikvision, of which 13,000 are being used by the Military Police and 5,800 cameras are installed in vehicles and used for urban video monitoring.
