On April 24, the Port Authority of Sines and the Algarve (APS) welcomed the visit of the general manager of CALB – China Aviation Lithium Battery (Europe) S.A., who was accompanied by the person responsible for the construction of the company's project in Sines.
The Chinese company's representative visited the terminals that will serve CALB's production in Sines, and there was also time for a detailed presentation of the port, highlighting its physical characteristics, which give this infrastructure a unique capacity to operate any type of ship and cargo. The logistics services offered by Sines were also detailed, which is synonymous with competitiveness and efficiency in the services provided by the port and other stakeholders to Iberian exporters and importers.
It should be noted that CALB will build a state-of-the-art lithium battery factory in Sines, with a production capacity of 15 GWh of energy storage. This unit is expected to be fully operational in 2028, with construction scheduled to begin later this year.
