From 25 to 26 March, the delegation of the 21st Ordinary Meeting of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao paid an exchange visit to Shenzhen, with the aim of strengthening co-operation and exchanges between the Portuguese-speaking countries and the city in the fields of trade, science and technology, and culture.

On the morning of 25 March, the delegation visited the Shenzhen Industrial Museum, where it learned about the city’s history of industrial development, its achievements, and its distinctive industrial culture. In the afternoon, the delegation visited BYD’s Pingshan Industrial Park, where it gained a deeper understanding of BYD’s research, development and production of new energy vehicles, as well as the transformative development arising from the extension of the industrial chain from electric vehicles to rail transport. It then proceeded to the Shenzhen Higreen International Agricultural Products Logistics Centre, where it visited the agricultural products trading zone, the quality testing laboratory and the intelligent management centre, gaining an understanding of how technology facilitates the circulation of agricultural products and contributes to the development of a green and healthy food industry chain.

On 26 March, the delegation visited Tencent Group, where it became acquainted with the innovative development of its big data centres, Tencent Cloud and artificial intelligence businesses. On the same day, the delegation also visited Shenzhen Bay Cultural Square, one of the city’s landmark venues.

During the visit, the delegation was received by Mr Wu Kunsheng, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shenzhen Municipal Government, and the two sides exchanged views on strengthening co-operation with the Portuguese-speaking countries in the areas of trade, science and technology, and culture.
