Trade between China, Portuguese-speaking Countries nearly US$144.265 bln in January-August 2025

Trade in merchandise between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$144.265 billion in the period from January to August 2025. It represented a 7,58 percent decrease year-on-year, according to data from China Customs. Portuguese-speaking Countries sold goods worth US$86.617 billion to China in the first eight month of 2025 – a decrease of 11.26 percent year-on-year. The value of China’s merchandise exports to those countries reached US$57.648 billion in the same period, a decrease of 1.42 percent year-on-year.


The total value of merchandise traded in August between the parties topped US$21.966 billion, a decrease of 8.49 percent from the prior-year period. The value of China’s merchandise imports from Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$14.192 billion, down 4.31 percent year-to-year, according to Chinese official data. China sold goods to those countries worth US$7.774 billion in August, a decrease of 15.25 percent compared with the previous year.
