Brazilian company Concert Space and Chinese company STAR.VISION recently signed a memorandum of understanding during Rio Innovation Week to develop solutions for processing images directly on board satellites. The partnership combines Brazil’s experience in developing monitoring applications with the Chinese company’s expertise in areas such as embedded artificial intelligence, on-board computing and satellite technology.

The first joint initiative will involve validating YaraTracker, a technology developed by Concert Space in collaboration with Embrapa Territorial. The algorithm will be integrated into STAR.VISION’s satellite constellation to monitor bodies of water and aquaculture areas in Brazil.

The co-operation also includes knowledge-sharing and technical training. A data scientist from Concert Space underwent training in China, where he observed STAR.VISION’s technical activities, including the launch of two hyperspectral satellites.

According to the Chinese company, this is its first major project in South America. The partnership aims to strengthen technological exchanges between teams from the two countries and support the training of Brazilian professionals in the space sector.
