Lucas Chachine, President of the Mozambique Chamber of Commerce (CCM), sought Macao’s support on 21 July in identifying entrepreneurs and partners in mainland China and Macao, with a view to attracting new investment to Mozambique. The initiative also aims to deepen economic and trade relations among Mozambique, China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. The request was made during a meeting in Maputo with a Macao business delegation led by Luiz Jacinto, Member of the Board of Directors of the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute of the Macao SAR (IPIM).

Lucas Chachine said that CCM sought to promote the interests of Mozambican enterprises in overseas markets and mobilise investment. He added that strengthening domestic enterprises was aligned with the Government’s strategy to increase production, promote industrialisation and create employment.

Among the sectors with the greatest potential for co-operation, he highlighted agriculture, agribusiness, agro-industry, tourism, logistics, the blue economy and the automotive industry. He also noted that Mozambique’s ports and development corridors served several countries in the region, reinforcing the country’s strategic importance to regional trade.
