Journalists and public media professionals from Mozambique recently took part in specialised training in artificial intelligence in Beijing. Following the programme, Mozambique’s Ambassador to China, Manuel Gonçalves, highlighted the crucial role of Mozambican government communications professionals in consolidating the “new era” of bilateral relations.

Gonçalves stated that the current partnership was based on a shared vision for the future, advocating the opening of a new stage focused on strengthening economic and commercial relations and assessing the results achieved following the most recent visit by Mozambique’s Head of State to China.

According to the Ambassador, the stay in Beijing would enable government communication professionals to gain first-hand knowledge of the Asian country’s level of development, which, after consolidating its infrastructure network, is now prioritising the advancement of technology and innovation.

The diplomat also pointed out that China had become a key player in the global political and economic landscape. In this regard, Mozambique should capitalise on the advantages arising from its friendly relations with China by ensuring the dissemination of accurate information. Gonçalves also warned that the speed of social media created a need of restoring the facts before distorted narratives overshadow them.
