The Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA) took part last week in the 13th International Trade and Development Forum on Crop Protection, promoted by the China Crop Protection Industry Association (CCPIA), in Qingdao, China. The event, held on 25 and 26 June, brought together representatives of government, industry and the productive sector to discuss issues related to regulation, innovation, sustainability and technical co-operation in the crop protection market.
During the forum, CNA Deputy Technical Director Maciel Aleomir da Silva gave a presentation entitled “Integrated Management of Pests, Diseases and Weeds in Brazilian Agriculture: Innovation, Biopesticides and Sustainable Production Systems”.
In his presentation, Maciel highlighted strategies that have contributed to increasing agricultural productivity with environmental responsibility, such as integrated pest management, the growing use of biological inputs and the adoption of precision agriculture technologies. He also addressed the challenges of tropical agriculture and emphasised the importance of integrating different tools and technologies to make production systems increasingly efficient, resilient and sustainable.
CNA’s participation took place in a context of strengthened co-operation between Brazil and China in the agricultural and livestock sector. In addition to the commercial relevance of the partnership between the two countries, the forum reinforced the importance of technical and regulatory exchanges in stimulating innovation, expanding the sustainability of agricultural production and contributing to global food security.
