Angola and China are planning to strengthen bilateral co-operation in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, the digital economy and renewable energies, announced the Chinese Ambassador to the country, Zhang Bin, at the end of a recent meeting with the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

Following the meeting, which took place in Luanda, the Chinese diplomat informed that an evaluation had been made of the results achieved in recent years, particularly in the economic and commercial spheres, and that the prospects for deepening co-operation relations had been analysed.

Zhang Bin stated that Chinese investments in Angola currently cover various strategic sectors, including the production of construction materials, real estate, the food and textile industries, the construction of industrial parks, mineral processing and the production of parts for vehicles and electronic devices.

Angola and China have maintained diplomatic relations since 1983, having elevated their co-operation to the status of a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2024, in sectors such as infrastructure, health, education, transport, energy, science and technology.
