The Chinese Embassy in Portugal recently held the award ceremony for the "My China Story" short video contest and the 2026 Chinese Ambassador Scholarships. The Chinese Ambassador to Portugal, Yang Yirui, attended and delivered a speech at the session. The event brought together more than a hundred participants, including contestants and their families, representatives of Portuguese educational institutions at various levels, and guests from different sectors.
In his speech, Yang Yirui highlighted that the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship aims to encourage a greater number of young Portuguese people to learn the Chinese language and deepen their knowledge of China. The diplomat also expressed his hope that the distinguished students would continue to invest in their education and contribute to strengthening the friendship between the two countries.
The Ambassador also emphasised that the first edition of the "My China Story" short video contest had attracted broad attention and participation from Portuguese society. Contestants from different age groups shared personal experiences and testimonies about their relationship with China.
The works presented covered diverse themes and perspectives, portraying an authentic, multifaceted and dynamic vision of China through the eyes of the Portuguese public, while also highlighting the deepening of mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two countries.
