TAAG – Angolan Airlines unveiled last week the new international route that will connect Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN) in Luanda to the city of Guangzhou, one of China's main industrial and commercial hubs. The inaugural flight is scheduled for 23 June.

During the launch ceremony, the Minister of Transport, Ricardo Viegas D'Abreu, underlined that the new connection aims to bring Africa and Asia closer together, facilitating the mobility of businesspeople, investors, students and tourists in a context of growing economic co-operation between Angola and China.

In the initial phase, the operation will have four flights per month, operating on Tuesdays and Fridays, ensuring a direct link between AIAAN and Guangzhou, considered one of the world's largest platforms for trade, industry and logistics.

According to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of TAAG, Clóvis Martins Rosa, the route has strong profitability potential, driven by the significant Chinese community resident in Angola, estimated at more than 50,000 citizens, and by the increased demand for travel for commercial purposes.
