Chinese automaker Changan Automobile has signed a strategic partnership with the Portuguese Football Federation, becoming the official global partner of Portugal’s national football team as it expands its presence in the European and global markets.
The agreement reflects Changan’s long-term international strategy, centred on sustained investment, technological innovation and closer engagement with consumers. The partnership also aligns the company with a national team known for its long-standing sporting tradition.
As part of the collaboration, Changan presented a Deepal S05 plug-in hybrid SUV to the federation’s leadership. The company also launched a 1,000-kilometre cross-Europe test drive programme, connecting Lisbon, Madrid and Turin, aimed at demonstrating the performance of its plug-in hybrid technology under varied road and climate conditions.
Europe remains a key market within Changan’s global expansion strategy. The partnership with the Portuguese Football Federation is expected to support product localisation, strengthen brand visibility and enhance the company’s operational footprint across the region.
Headquartered in Chongqing, China, Changan sold over 2.91 million vehicles globally in 2025, solidifying its position as one of the country's leading and longest-established automakers.
