A programme launched by festivals in Macao, Portugal and Cape Verde has received around 60 dance films and videos originating from six Portuguese-speaking countries and territories.

According to Mary Wong, curator of the Rollout Dance Film Festival in Macao, the project Saracoteio – Screendance has brought together works from Portugal, Brazil, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau and Macao, reflecting the diversity of artistic creation within the Portuguese-speaking cultural space.

Submissions for Saracoteio were open until 30 April for works by authors or producers who are nationals or residents of Portuguese-speaking countries and regions. The initiative is the result of a partnership between the Rollout Dance Film Biennale, the 34th Quinzena de Dança de Almada - International Dance Festival, and the Uabá Festival of Cape Verde. According to the organisers, the project aims to strengthen ties between artists from different Portuguese-speaking spaces, promoting cultural exchange through dance and audiovisual media.

In early October, dancers from Macao are expected to travel to Portugal to present four works. Then, in early December, the Quinzena de Dança de Almada will bring dance performances to the Chinese special administrative region.
