The University of Macau (UM) recently announced the creation of a joint centre with the University of Coimbra (UC), dedicated to Law and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
In a statement, UM notes that the new centre will promote interdisciplinary collaboration in research and advanced teaching at the intersection of Law and AI. Among the planned initiatives are joint research projects, staff training, organisation of international conferences and exchange programmes for faculty and students.
In October 2024, the two institutions had already signed an agreement for the creation of a joint doctoral programme in the field of Health, with a particular focus on neuroscience, as stated at the time by UM's Vice-Rector for External Relations, João Nuno Calvão da Silva.
The agreement for the creation of the new joint centre on Law and AI was recently signed by UM's Rector, Song Yonghua, who was in Lisbon as part of the delegation of Macao's Chief Executive, Sam Hou Fai.
