A delegation of over 60 participants from the 43rd General Assembly of the Union of Portuguese-Speaking Capital Cities (UCCLA) recently visited the Guangdong-Macao Deepening Co-operation Zone in Hengqin, bringing together representatives from 35 cities and international organisations from Angola, Cape Verde, Mozambique, Portugal and São Tomé and Príncipe. The visit focused on the Co-operation Zone's progress in smart city development, and also included exchanges with Chinese companies on economic and commercial co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
Throughout the visit, the delegation toured several leading companies and entities, and also had the opportunity to experience an autonomous minibus within the co-operation zone. During the working session, Hengqin's development policies were presented. Representatives from Chinese companies such as Hello Robotaxi, Guangzhou Shiyuan Electronic Technology Company Limited (CVTE) and China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation (SINOSURE) addressed topics including smart mobility, intelligent interaction and financial solutions.
Representatives from Portuguese-speaking countries acknowledged the innovation capacity of Chinese companies, valued Hengqin's achievements in smart city development, as well as the advantages of its policy framework. They also expressed interest in deepening co-operation in areas such as urban governance, the digital economy and smart mobility.
