Angola has expressed interest in developing domestic production of polysilicon and solar panels as part of strengthening co-operation with China in the field of clean energy. This intention was conveyed on 14 April by the Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, during a meeting with the President of Qinghai Lihao Clean Energy, Wang Fu, in Beijing.

During the meeting, the minister highlighted Angola's geological potential, emphasising the existence of abundant reserves of silicon and quartz — essential raw materials for the solar industry — and added that the government's objective is to create an integrated industrial chain that includes polysilicon production and, at a later stage, evolves into the manufacturing of solar panels.

In turn, the President of Qinghai Lihao Clean Energy stated that China has already achieved approximately 50% clean energy production, noting that the country possesses mature technology and extensive experience in the sector, and expressed interest in deepening co-operation with Angola. According to Wang Fu, the combination of Angola's natural resources with Chinese technological expertise could enable the development of joint projects in the country.
