Angola's Minister of Finance, Vera Daves, began a five-day official visit to the People's Republic of China on 23 March, with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations and deepening economic co-operation between the two countries.
During the mission, the minister has scheduled meetings with key financial institutions, including a meeting with the President of the New Development Bank (BRICS), Dilma Rousseff, in Shanghai, as well as contacts with government officials and representatives of the financial sector in Hong Kong. The agenda aims to consolidate strategic partnerships and drive the implementation of major projects with a direct impact on Angola's economic development.
On the first day of the visit, Vera Daves met in Beijing with the Vice President of the Export-Import Bank of China (Eximbank), Yang Dongning, with whom she reviewed the current state of bilateral co-operation, with a focus on the economic and financial sectors. On the occasion, the Finance Minister stressed that Angola remains open to Chinese private investment, highlighting China's strategic role in the country's economic modernisation process, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, energy, technology and human capital development.
