Timor-Leste's Vice-Minister of Commerce and Industry Joins Meeting on Co-operation with China

The Vice-Minister of Commerce and Industry of Timor-Leste, Augusto Júnior Trindade, took part in a videoconference meeting in Dili focused on strengthening co-operation with China. The gathering brought together representatives from academic institutions, economic organisations, and research centres across the Asia-Pacific region.


The meeting was organised to mark the 5th anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between China and ASEAN. During his address, the official underscored the importance of dialogue and international co-operation amid challenges facing the global economy.


Mr Trindade further emphasised that the Timorese government continues to advance its ASEAN integration process through reforms aimed at trade facilitation, modernisation of the customs system, and the development of the digital economy. According to him, co-operation with international partners, including China, could contribute to the implementation of these initiatives.


During the meeting, priority areas for strengthening future co-operation between Timor-Leste and China were presented, notably in the fields of trade and investment, infrastructure development, digital transformation, climate change adaptation, and institutional capacity building.
