A delegation from Macao has visited the Azores with the aim of exploring co-operation opportunities in the fields of green energy and smart cities. This fact-finding mission could potentially lead to the establishment of an operational base in Portugal.
According to the CEO of Macao Ewin International Technological Trade Ltd., in an interview with local media, the objective is to create a strategic platform in Portugal that connects the company headquartered in Macao, its factory in Mainland China, and the European market, thereby allowing for a gradual expansion of the company's presence on the continent.
The executive stressed that the company has been developing cutting-edge technology in the areas of solar energy, compact transformers, and electrical storage systems. She views Portugal as providing a favourable environment for introducing solutions that can improve people's quality of life.
"We want to establish a base here in Portugal and then expand to the rest of Europe," stated the executive head, explaining that "the idea is to start with an office and an assembly operation for parts coming from China, later evolving into setting up a factory. We intend to cooperate with local universities to train qualified professionals and conduct joint research and development."
