Six Portuguese organizations in Macau and Hong Kong have launched a fundraising campaign to support victims of storms in Portugal.

Donations can be deposited into an account at Banco Nacional Ultramarino and will subsequently be forwarded to Portuguese social solidarity institutions operating in the field, ensuring “transparency and traceability,” according to a statement quoted by Agência Lusa.

The initiative, institutionally supported by the consulate, brings together Casa de Portugal, the China Circle of the Council of Portuguese Communities, the Macau Lusophone Scout Group, and, in Hong Kong, the Club Lusitano, in an appeal to mobilize the Portuguese-speaking community in the Greater Bay Area.

This campaign comes after Caritas Macau launched a three-month fundraising campaign on February 10 and Misericórdia de Macau donated €300,000 to the Union of Portuguese Misericórdias last week.
