The growth of Chinese tourism in Brazil, combined with the reciprocal visa exemption policy between Brazil and China, is beginning to have a tangible impact on strategic destinations in Brazil. In Foz do Iguaçu, the increase in the number of Chinese visitors and the consolidation of an international strategy focused on the Asian market reinforce the municipality's position as one of Brazil's main tourist hubs on the global stage.

Data from Iguaçu National Park indicate that Chinese tourist visits jumped from 16,256 people in 2024 to 21,455 in 2025, an increase of 31.98 per cent in one year. The result comes amid an offensive launched nine months ago by Visit Iguassu, as part of the Integrated Tourism Management strategy, with financial support from the Iguaçu Fund.

According to data released by Embratur on 26 December 2025, the number of Chinese tourists in Brazil grew by 34 per cent between January and November, with 94,400 visitors in the period, compared to 70,400 in the same period in 2024. The volume also exceeded the total recorded throughout last year.
