On 9 January, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Mozambique, Zheng Xuan, visited the headquarters of Sociedade do Notícias in Maputo to learn about its publications and strengthen co-operation with the Mozambican media sector.

During her visit, the Chinese diplomat had the opportunity to learn about the work carried out by the newspapers Notícias, Domingo and Desafio. Zheng Xuan made a point of emphasising the fundamental importance of the media in strengthening ties between peoples, praising the commitment of journalists to building and promoting citizenship.

On this occasion, Zheng Xuan reiterated China's strong desire to maintain and deepen good relations with Mozambique, recalling the long and solid history of friendship and co-operation that unites the two countries. She added that the Chinese government intends to intensify bilateral co-operation, with a special focus on the media, as it considers this a strategic sector for promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
