The exhibition “Spiritual Narrative” recently opened at Casas da Taipa, bringing together eight artists from China and Portuguese-speaking countries in a show that crosses cultures and symbolic journeys.
The curatorship was integrated into the program of the 7th Meeting in Macau – Arts and Culture Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, organized by the Cultural Institute, inspired by two legendary 16th-century travelers, one from the West and one from the East: the Portuguese Fernão Mendes Pinto and the Chinese Xu Xiake. The exhibition includes painting, sculpture, video, and installation, proposing a visual dialogue between different cultural and linguistic contexts.
In total, 28 pieces or sets of works will be presented, distributed across the various exhibition spaces. The organization describes the route through the rooms as a kind of guided tour in the footsteps of a traveler, in which each work functions as a stage in an intimate and spiritual narrative.
