The Brazilian forestry industry recently began its first mission to China, an unprecedented initiative organized by the Minas Gerais Forestry Industry Association (AMIF) that will run until November 31.

The Mission's first official engagements took place in Nanning, capital of Guangxi province in southern China. In the city, Brazilian representatives participated in the 3rd World Forestry Industry Conference (WFIC). After Nanning, the delegation will travel to Shenzhen to visit technology giants such as Huawei, DJI, and BYD, where they will have access to industrial automation solutions, state-of-the-art drones, electric vehicles, and advanced artificial intelligence applications.

The delegation will then travel to Beijing for meetings with the China Iron and Steel Association, the Department of Metallurgy at the Beijing Institute of Technology, and companies such as Sany and Jingye, with a view to bringing the Brazilian forestry sector closer to the Chinese steel industry.

According to Adriana Maugeri, China is the world's largest consumer of forest products and one of the most strategic markets for Brazil. For the president of AMIF, direct contact with the Chinese market represents a concrete opportunity to expand dialogue, reduce risks, diversify customers, and strengthen long-term partnerships. “We want to make this Mission the beginning of a continuous cycle of cooperation and real opportunities for both countries,” she said.
