The University of Cape Verde recently hosted a lecture by Professor Davis Fong of the University of Macau on recent developments in tourism and the integrated resort industry in Macau, as part of the series “Tourism and the Integrated Resort Industry: Experiences and Perspectives from Macau.”

With the theme “Recent Development of Tourism and Integrated Resort Industry in Macau,” Professor Fong presented Macau's trajectory as a tourist destination and international gaming center, emphasizing the role of industry liberalization, the definition of a specific legal framework, and the model of casino concessions and subconcessions.

For Cape Verde, Macau's experience was presented as a reference for reflecting on possible ways to diversify tourism, going beyond the “sun and sea” product-centered model and exploring segments linked to entertainment, conferences, business, and events, always adapted to the national reality and sustainable development priorities.
