Recently, the first train in the new Belo Horizonte subway fleet departed from China bound for Brazil, according to information gathered by the website O Fator.

Manufactured by CRRC, the train is expected to arrive in the country in December and begin operating early next year with the Metrô BH concessionaire.

The arrival of the new trains represents a significant step towards the modernization of public transport in the capital of Minas Gerais. In addition to improving passenger comfort with larger seats and LED screens, the expanded fleet promises to optimize service on existing lines and new routes.

The investment in the new fleet, consisting of 24 trains, totals approximately R$ 700 million. Currently, the Belo Horizonte Metro operates with 35 trains, of which 25 were acquired in the 1990s and 10 began operating in 2015. “The acquisition of this fleet is an important milestone for public transport in Minas Gerais,” said Mateus Simões, vice-governor of Minas Gerais.
