Recently, China Agricultural University (CAU) hosted the course “Brazil-China Lecture Series - Public Policies and Legal Frameworks for Promoting Food Security, Poverty Reduction, and Common Prosperity,” held in partnership with the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family, and Hunger Alleviation (MDS). The program brought together researchers and professors from China, Brazil, and other countries for a broad exchange on public policy, food security, and sustainable development.
The legal advisor to the MDS, João Paulo de Faria Santos, gave a lecture on “Legal Models of Social Policies,” highlighting the regulatory frameworks that underpin the Brazilian social protection system, the right to food, health, and social assistance as duties of the State.
The course was organized with the support of Professor Sérgio Schneider, from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). In his speech, he emphasized that moments like this reinforce academic and international cooperation, serving as a basis for improving policies on food security, productive inclusion, and support for family farming.
