The number of cars that Brazil bought from China broke a record in the first half of 2025: 134,582 cars. This is an increase of 3.6% compared to the same period in 2024, when 129,933 vehicles were imported from the Asian country. The figure represents 62.1% of the total. Brazil brought 40,616 cars from Argentina.
In practice, the 134,600 Chinese vehicles that entered Brazil exceed by about 3 times what Brazil brought from Argentina - from where Brazilians imported the most cars. In 2024, China took the lead.
It's worth noting that the preference of car types in the Brazilian market has also changed compared to the same period last year. The total number of hybrid cars was 103.8 thousand. It grew by 29% in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. The number of cars with a combustion engine reached 74,315 in the first 6 months of this year, while cars with an all-electric engine totaled 38,067 in the period.
