Recently, during the BRICS summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s Minister of Mines and Energy of Brazil, Alexandre Silveira, signed a Letter of Intent with the Chinese state-owned company CGN Energy to establish a technical-scientific cooperation platform focused on energy transition, technological innovation, and sustainable development, with emphasis on integrated actions in research and development (R&D), process digitalization, and modernization of Brazil’s mining sector.
The signed document also includes actions aimed at distributed generation, energy storage, and process digitalization. In the mining sector, the agreement seeks to strengthen national technical capacity through cooperation with universities, research centers, and public and private institutions.
The signing of the Letter of Intent marks a new chapter in bilateral cooperation between Brazil and China, representing a strategic milestone for energy security, technological innovation, and the strengthening of South-South energy diplomacy. With a planned investment of 3 billion reais in Brazil, CGN reaffirms its commitment to expanding its portfolio of renewable energy sources, while positioning itself as a key player in the technological and institutional exchange between the two countries.
