Recently, the main structure of the radio telescope from the China-Brazil joint project was shipped to Paraíba. The equipment is part of the international project “Radio Telescope for Detecting Baryon Acoustic Oscillation Signals in the Universe” (BINGO) and marks the beginning of the installation phase in Brazil.

This is the largest radio astronomy project in South America and the only one in the world exclusively dedicated to dark energy research. The telescope is designed to observe neutral hydrogen—a primordial gas widely distributed across the universe—contributing to the study of cosmic structure and evolution, as well as investigations into dark energy.

The CETC Network & Communications Group Co., Ltd was responsible for the antenna structure’s design, engineering, and manufacturing. A senior engineer at the institute, stated that since assembly will take place in Brazil, the Chinese team adopted an approach that facilitates mass production and local assembly, drawing on experience gained from telescope construction in China.
