The 14th edition of the China-Africa Think Tank Forum is being held from May 19 to 25, 2025, in Kunming city, southern China. With the theme "Exchange of governance experiences between China and Africa and modernization in the Chinese style," the event brought together academics, policymakers, and institutional leaders from both continents to discuss pathways to shared development, focusing on inclusive, sustainable modernization models adapted to local contexts.
The Rector of the University of Cape Verde (Uni-CV), José Arlindo Barreto, participated in the event at the invitation of the China-Africa Institute. During his speech, the Rector highlighted the importance of Sino-African cooperation as a "bridge to a new era," also emphasizing the need for a just, equitable, and sustainable development model, especially for Global South countries.
Barreto also highlighted the crucial role of education and training in this process. He mentioned, as an example, the new Uni-CV campus, built in 2021 with the support of China, as proof of the positive and lasting impact of this cooperation.
