Brazil signed protocols with China on May 13 to allow the export of dried distillers grains (DDGs), as well as agreements to export more poultry products.

DDGs is known as corn meal derived from the production of ethanol from the cereal and is considered a high quality protein alternative for use in animal feed. The country has also opened up the Chinese market to exports of duck meat, turkey meat, chicken offal (heart, liver and gizzard) and peanut meal, according to a statement from the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA).

In 2024, China imported US$ 155 million (R$ 878.7 million at the current price) of chicken offal, US$ 50 million (R$ 283 million) of turkey meat, US$ 1.4 million (R$ 8.2 million) of duck meat, more than US$ 66 million (R$ 373.6 million) in DDG and DDGS and US$ 18 million (R$ 102.2 million) in peanut bran, according to Chinese customs data cited by the Brazilian ministry.
