Brazil began 2025 with an unprecedented achievement in the dairy sector: China became the largest destination for Brazilian milk and dairy exports, surpassing traditional buyers such as countries in the Middle East and Africa.
From January to March 2025, Brazil exported 1,75 thousand tons of dairy products to Mainland China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, which represents 15.5% of everything exported in the segment in the period. The growth is significant: an increase of 315.7% in volume and 581.2% in revenue compared to the same quarter in 2024, according to data compiled by Rural Business based on SECEX/MAPA statistics.
The value of exports to the Chinese market totaled US$1.31 million, equivalent to R$7.67 million, considering the average exchange rate of R$5.857 in the period. The most shipped products were whole milk powder, whey, butter, cheese and UHT milk.
