On April 23, Minister of Women Cida Gonçalves received the vice-president of the United Arab Emirates Gender Balance Council, Mona Almarri, and the vice-president of the All-China Women's Federation, Lin Yi, with whom she discussed possibilities for cooperation in promoting gender equality, empowering women and combating violence.
In her agenda with vice-president Lin Yi, minister Cida Gonçalves also discussed, among other topics, the commemorations of the 30th anniversary of the Conference and the Beijing Platform for Action. Historically, Brazil and China have been genuine partners in the gender agenda, with points of alignment in the defense of principles such as national sovereignty, sustainable development, poverty reduction and women's economic autonomy.
"It is essential to strengthen the partnership between the Brazilian government and China. More than that, it is important that this collaboration also extends to women in both countries," said Minister Cida Gonçalves.
