The president of Brazil's National Federation of Journalists (FENAJ), Samira de Castro, visited Changzhou, in the Chinese province of Jiangsu, from 13 to 15 October. The FENAJ delegation took part in the 2026 Belt and Road Journalists Forum and saw examples of Sino-Brazilian cooperation in clean energy.

During the visit to the Chinese company NR Electric, she learned about the ultra-high-voltage transmission technology used in the second phase of the Belo Monte project, in Brazil. Already in operation, the system carries hydroelectric power from northern Brazil to Rio de Janeiro and other regions.

Castro, who had written about Belo Monte in 2012 for the newspaper Diário do Nordeste, highlighted the contribution of Chinese technology to the stability of the electricity supply and the benefits for the local population. She also expressed the hope that the two countries will deepen their cooperation in the sector.

The journalist also said she hoped to publicise these experiences of cooperation in clean energy, so as to show the world a China committed to high-quality development, openness and cooperation.
