According to data from the National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea), Brazil imported 254,900 vehicles from China between January and September 2026, up 106.4% on the same period of 2025. These vehicles accounted for 55% of imports in the segment and 11.3% of the domestic market. The expansion coincides with the growth in electric and hybrid vehicles and Chinese manufacturers' investments in local production.

In the refrigeration sector, Chinese companies took part in the international trade fair Febrava Rio 2026 in Rio de Janeiro a few days ago to present technologies and seek partnerships with Brazilian suppliers and customers. The event brought together around 100 brands and more than 10,000 professionals.

Gree, a Chinese manufacturer present in Brazil for more than two decades, prioritises energy efficiency and the adaptation of products to the local climate, according to its director-general for South America, Lin Wei.

RLX, a Brazilian refrigerant fluids company with a production unit in Manaus, supplies products to Gree and Midea Carrier. According to its commercial manager, Mathias Heineck, around 60% of the company's business is linked to Chinese companies.

These moves contribute to diversifying economic relations between Brazil and China, broadening the Chinese presence in industrial segments. These are separate business initiatives, whose contribution to deeper industrial integration will depend on local production, the development of suppliers, the transfer of knowledge and the creation of value in Brazil.
