The Brazilian vitivinícola sector considers China a strategic market for the long-term expansion of its exports. According to Rafael Romagna, who is responsible for overseas market promotion at the Institute for Management, Planning and Development of Viticulture in the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Consevitis-RS), Brazilian sales of wine, sparkling wine and grape juice to the Chinese market recorded significant growth in 2026.

In comments to Xinhua, the official explained that the work in China involves business prospecting, brand promotion and engaging with consumers, importers and distributors. Brazilian producers and entities involved in overseas trade also support the internationalisation of national brands in the Chinese market.

Romagna also highlighted the growing interest among Chinese consumers in Brazilian grape juice, particularly products from Serra Gaúcha in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, the country’s main vitivinícola region.

Across international markets, Brazilian exports of wine and sparkling wine reached US$6.79 million in the first half of 2026, 23.7% higher than in the same period of 2025, according to the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services. Wine accounted for the largest share of sales.

Brazilian wine, sparkling wine and grape juice reached 79 countries in 2026, with the number of export destinations increasing by 20.4% compared with 2025.
