Federal University of Paraíba receives delegation from Peking University

The Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) recently received a delegation from Peking University, comprising by 11 students and one professor. The visit lasted 13 days, with a programme organised by the UFPB Agency for International Co-operation aimed at providing participants with an introduction to the academic environment and culture of the state of Paraíba.

 

The programme included a welcome session and a lecture on the clinical journey of patients with Parkinson’s disease and digital phenotyping in Brazil’s Unified Health System. The visitors also took part in workshops on Brazilian culture and identity, Indigenous cultures and corporealities, Portuguese and capoeira, as well as visiting local cultural institutions and handicraft initiatives.

 

On the academic and scientific side, the delegation visited a centre specialising in rare diseases. The group also carried out field activities focused on the coastal environment and visited an Indigenous community in Baía da Traição, where they learned about aspects of the local culture and gastronomy.

 

The programme concluded with student presentations, a closing symposium and a session to evaluate the experience. The initiative promoted academic and cultural exchange between Chinese and Brazilian students and deepened mutual understanding between the two university communities.
