Jointly organized by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Recife, the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) in China and the Confucius Institute of the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), the meeting of the “Forum China – Northeast of Brazil: Studies on the Economic and Social Development of Northeast of Brazil” was held virtually on the 3rd of November.

On the 28th of October, Chinese company Angelalign announced the purchase of 51% of the operation of Aditek, a Brazilian manufacturer of orthodontic appliances and aligners. The transaction was worth US$ 19.4 million. With the deal, the Chinese company, listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange and valued at around US$ 1.6 billion, will have Aditek as a local player to offer its own aligners.

To celebrate 210 years of Chinese immigration to Brazil, a China-Brazil concert was held on the 30th of October at the Municipal Theater of São Paulo, Brazil, organized by the Experimental Repertoire Orchestra in conjunction with the Asian Cultural Center in São Paulo. Ten Chinese singers and musicians performed four programs with traditional instruments, as well as collaborated with the local orchestra.

Chinese car brand BYD has signed a letter of intent with the State Government of Bahia, Brazil, to manufacture electric cars, buses and trucks at the former Ford plant in Camaçari, which closed in 2021.

On October 27th, the Secretariat of International Relations of the Government of São Paulo received executives from China for the launch of Fenjiu, a type of Chinese Baijiu of the brand Xin Huacun, in Brazil. With 6,000 years of history, the drink will be sold in Brazil in 2023.
