Chinese automaker Geely recently made an official return to Brazil, establishing a strategic partnership with the local subsidiary of French automaker Renault to jointly produce four new car models by 2027 at the factory located in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná, southern Brazil.
During the ceremony, it was announced that the Chinese group Geely had acquired 26.4% of Renault's capital, a move that marks the beginning of a broad industrial and technological alliance in the South American country.
The plan includes investments of R$ 3.8 billion, approximately US$ 714.29 million, for the development of electrified platforms and new hybrid and electric models in Paraná. The investment package will focus on modernizing the industrial complex to adapt it to the manufacture of low- and zero-emission vehicles.
According to both companies, the alliance seeks to “accelerate the development of brands in the domestic market” while simultaneously driving the transition to sustainable mobility.
