An initiative by s School of Communications and Arts (ECA) of University of São Paulo (USP) in partnership with the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) has created a web radio station, Rádio.Me, which is already on the air with daily programming in different formats and themes, with the aim of promoting cultural exchange and academic dialog between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
The idea for the web radio was born out of an academic meeting between Ricardo Alexino Ferreira, a professor at Department of Journalism and Publishing (CJE) of USP, and Adérito Fernandes Marcos, director of USJ’s Doctoral School. One of the recurring programs is Alexino’s Diversity in Science. In addition to what is broadcast live on the radio, the public can consult and listen to the archives of the last 15 programs. The project is funded by the Macau Foundation.
Preliminary to the Rádio.Me project came Conta.Me. Aimed at collecting interviews with Portuguese-speaking intellectuals, its website already has more than 20 videos. Initially, the purpose of Conta.Me was to recover the memory of Macanese speakers of Portuguese. Alexino points out that there are future plans for interviews in other countries, complementing those produced in Macau.
