According to a press release, the Hong Kong authorities are organizing a business lunch in Portugal on July 3 entitled “Unveiling New Horizons: Affordable Housing and Opportunities in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area”. The Commissioner for Greater Bay Area Development, Maisie Chan Kit Ling, will give a speech on the “huge business opportunities” that the regional project offers Portuguese entrepreneurs.
Hong Kong’s Secretary for Housing, Winnie Ho Wing Yin, has invited more than 20 representatives from China's construction sector to take part in the event. The event will “share Hong Kong's experiences in increasing the quantity, speed, efficiency and quality of public housing construction through the adoption of various innovative rapid construction and robotic technologies”.
The political program of the new Portuguese government, led by Luís Montenegro, foresees the construction of 59,000 public houses by 2030 and funding for more housing, including public-private partnerships in vacant state properties. The event could serve “to strengthen links between the Hong Kong and Portuguese sectors and explore business opportunities”, the statement said.
