On March 27, the delegation from the Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) attended the opening ceremony of the 2025 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2025MIECF) and visited the booth of Forum Macao.

This year, the Permanent Secretariat once again set up a Forum Macao booth at the 2025MIECF, promoting Forum Macao through graphics, publications, videos, and new media channels, while introducing the investment and business environments as well as the development of environmental industries in Portuguese-speaking countries. Bilingual staff were arranged on-site to facilitate exchanges and connections.

The “Global Carbon Credit Market Development Forum” was held during the 2025MIECF. As a supporting organization for the event, the Permanent Secretariat assisted the organizing committee in inviting Francisco Kalbuadi Lay, the Vice Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Minister of Tourism and Environment of Timor-Leste, to attend the event in Macao. The forum aimed to showcase the latest low-carbon achievements, share the newest technological advancements and policy innovations in the global carbon market, promote the optimization of market mechanisms, and further strengthen Macao’s collaboration in the field of global climate change. Deputy Secretary-General Xie Ying of the Permanent Secretariat attended and witnessed the signing ceremony.

Each year, the Permanent Secretariat arranges for governments and enterprises from the participating countries of Forum Macao to utilize the Forum Macao and Macao platforms to participate in exhibitions and activities in the environmental field, share environmental information, promote exchanges and cooperation among mainland China, Macao, and Portuguese-speaking countries, and strengthen capacity building in sustainable development and environmental protection, thereby leveraging Macao’s role as a service platform for commercial cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
